NACO and NCASC Meeting in Delhi

With an aim to share current HIV and migration programs between Nepal and India and to explore areas of common understanding and support, an informal meeting between Senior Government Officials from National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), India and National Center for AIDS and STD Control (NCASC), Nepal was organized at NACO’s office in Delhi in July, 2013.

 

Nepal and India share an open border. Migration between two countries has been a key fact over many years. With the specific context of HIV and migration this meeting was an opportunity towards developing common understanding and collaboration. During the meeting, the interventions made by EMPHASIS in both the countries were also discussed.


The NACO team was led by Ms. Aradhana Johri, Joint Secretary, Department of AIDS control, Government of India. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Neeraj Dhingra, Deputy Director in charge of Targeted Interventions and Dr. Subhash Chandra Ghosh, Program Officer at NACO.


The NCASC team was lead by Dr. Bal Krishna Subedi, Director, NCASC Nepal and Dr. Hementa Ojha, Senior Medical Officer, National Center for AIDS and STD Control.


In the meeting, along with the senior government Officials from both the countries, EMPHASIS team inclusive of Senior Project Director, Prabodh Devkota, and Team Leaders Nabesh Bohidar and Prakesh Pandey, also participated in the meeting.
